Skyjoy is a new company created to develop a concept utilising Circadian Entrainment and Artificial Intelligence to improve the lives of millions of people living with cognitive impairment. Skyjoy is supported by Chroma Lighting, Ulster University, Knowledge Transfer Network and Things Connected NI to develop a prototypical IoT solution which leverages Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) technologies.  The development of our system is at an early stage but we’e excited with our developments so far and look forward to bringing you news as trials progress.

Skyjoy have made huge advances in the last two years and our Knowledge Transfer Partnership funded by Innovate UK has just been awarded ‘Ouststanding” grade. This is very much due to the efforts of Kate Turley who is developing the AI for our sensors.

Our research has also been recognised by a SHAPES award and we’ve been shortlisted for the Longitude Award on Dementia- the funding these awards provide will help us move Skyjoy towards the market. Meanwhile, our trial of almost 50no. intelligent prototype luminaires at Kirk House is coming to completion and another trial is now planned in a Sheltered Dwelling scheme.

Skyjoy was delighted to be invited to contribute to a series of articles published in the Guardian newspaper to recognise World Alzheimer’s Day (21 September 2023). You can download the article here.
